I've only had it for about three weeks now, but if it continues as it has, I am simply floored. What a great little piece of equipment!
It feels so tight and solid, it is fast, starts up and shuts down quick, and after just one day I had adjusted to the keyboard size. (The screen took a bit longer, but I can honestly say I wasn't even noticing the 'small' factor after a week.) I use it for school, taking lecture notes and web-browsing. I don't use it for music or games, can't say what that would do to the performance, but I don't need to care.
If it doesn't die some strange and sudden death I will be a VERY happy buyer.
The only con, small but important enough to take away a star, is that the nice, long power cord is covered in the flimsiest, skinniest rubber material possible between the brick and the notebook. I know for a fact that I will have a frayed and useless cord within a semester or two, and something that predictable should have been addressed before the product made it into my hands.
But so far, no fan noise issues, no heat issues, and an amazing price... I think I love it.
**UPDATE**
As of June 7th, 2009 ... still running great. No a single glitch, even under extra wear and tear. (Our family desktop finally died, and we are saving to replace it. Guess what the whole family is using in the meantime.)
I am so pleased I am wondering of their desktops are as good as their minis.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOA150-1049 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Black.
