When I first got my Acer Aspire One, I constantly heard, "Is that real?" and "That's a laptop?!" Yes, it is a laptop. It is one of the best laptops I have ever bought.
2.2 lbs feels great whenever I'm walking around school, but I constantly feel like I'm forgetting my laptop somewhere because it is so light. Because it is so small, I can also put a textbook on the desk next to the laptop instead of on my lap. I can carry the laptop around in my hand almost like a large book! It's just so great!
There are three things that I do not like about it:
1. The touchpad is a little hard to get used to. If you're not careful, you'll be zooming in and out of your document in no time.
2. No cd-rom drive. I knew that when I bought it, but I never noticed how many programs I actually need cds for. I really need an external cd-rom or my old laptop. One of the things I DO like about not having a cd-rom drive is that the backup for the laptop is on a hidden partition in the laptop. The manual tells you how to get to it in the event the laptop crashes.
3. The word processors: Microsoft Works and Microsoft Office 2007 Trial. I used to love Microsoft Works, but now when I save in .doc format, it tells me that there is no space on the HDD, when there is. So I have to copy and paste the document into Open Office in order to save it. I also hate the trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 because it is a trial version. I think it's stupid that they wouldn't include the full version on a laptop that seems like it is designed for students. The only way I could really resolve this issue was to switch to Open Office and change the properties of my documents to only open with Open Office.
I would give the Acer Aspire One a 4.5, but it won't let me. So it gets a 4.
