Acer Aspire One AOA150-1049 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Black Immediately

This was my first net book and so far it has been a fantastic experience. I can't stay away from this little thing. My social life is getting destroyed!

Good points about the product:
- It is light, so you can carry this thing around. reading books or watching programs, listening to music etc.
- It has a reasonably long battery life, mine goes about 5.5hrs with wifi on.
- The screen size is reasonable - I was terribly scared when I got this, this thing is smaller than anything I had seen before! To my surprise this net book is very usable.
- The netbook rarely freezes - I have several programs open at the same time and this thing just keeps chugging along! Some of my bigger computers freeze more than this one. So has a reasonably decent processor.
- It picks up wi-fi connections quickly and stays connected!
- I listen to lot of music and this champ follows me along - where ever I go! I havent tested the included camera - I am assuming its good.
- Finally, my typing speed hasn't slowed down. It takes a month or two to get used to the smaller keyboard. Now I don't see any difference - I prefer typing on acer now!

You need to have minimal set of programs on this thing, I have the following set and it is good for most people:

- I strongly suggest that you download google chrome web browser. This has tabs on the top and is ideal for net books. I also hide the windows task bar at the bottom. With this configuration I get to look at the whole screen in all its glory. To boot, chrome is much faster than either Internet Explorer or Firefox.

- Installed Microsoft Office 2003 (As we all know by now - Office 2007 is garbage and will most likely crash your net book with reasonable frequency!)

- I have installed Google desktop. On my desktop I have clocks of two cities, a stock market table, calender and a really cool looking battery meter! There are tons of google gadgets that you may wish to download.

- VLC media player - this rock solid video player plays everything under the sun!

- Skype - to keep in touch with people on the cheap.

- Adobe Acrobat - I do read quite a few PDFs, since this thing is so easy to carry around.

- To round out the collection - my trusty old winamp! and don't forget the MMD3 skin - the nodding lady in the skin is so dreamy (I probably should marry that girl - since I stare at her so much!)

Thats it - STOP - don't install anything else!

All in all - a fantabulous net book. Worth every last dollar I spent on it.Get more detail about Acer Aspire One AOA150-1049 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Black.
